Fargo Commission Accused of Breaking Open Meeting Laws

Fargo City Commissioners are accused of breaking open meetings laws during resignation talks with former Police Chief Keith Ternes.

North Dakota’s Attorney General says a series of conversations with various members of the city commission at different times over several days constituted a violation.

Ternes resigned after a committee was created to review discipline and low morale in the department after the suicide of Lt. Jeff Skuza.

Mayor Tim Mahoney says city staff always tries to comply with state open meetings requirements and he apologized for the mistakes.
