High school drama clubs come together and act up.

Student actors took part in day one of the annual Fargo Area Theater Festival Invitational.

Fargo and West Fargo student actors, theater technicians and drama teachers were invited to this year’s Theater Festival.

Two days of fun–filled workshops, performances, theater games and activities.

Fargo South Senior Evan Wood says, “It’s probably the best thing I’ve done since I joined high school.”

Theater professionals were on hand critiquing students giving them food for thought for the next time they take the stage.

Fargo South Junior Jacob Dybwad says, “They gave us positive feedback: What works, what didn’t work and what we could do in the future.”

The festival is not a contest or competition of any kind, just a fun way for these student actors to gain artistic and educational experience.

Festival Coordinator Thomas Gillen says, “We’re really hoping we can foster some extra love for the arts in the community. It’s wonderful because it’s a festival so it’s not a competition. Everyone’s just here enjoying each other’s performances.”

Wood adds, “When you have other people who appreciate theater like this, you get to have fun and be yourself and act your character and you don’t have to worry about people who don’t understand what it’s all about.”

Tomorrow’s final session includes Theater Olympics, an Improvisation Show and more workshops.
