Statewide Fire Emergency
North Dakota is under a statewide fire emergency.
Governor Dalrymple’s order is in response to high winds, warmer weather and dry conditions across much of the state.
Warm, windy weather across the region could cause any fire to spread rapidly.
Grand Forks officials have issued a burn ban because of the red flag warnings for the current conditions.
West Fargo Fire Chief Roy Schatschneider said,”If you’re doing an outside activities, recreational fires or camp fires or wanting to burn a brush or a trash pile it’d be best to leave it or wait until we get some moisture or when the grass greens up a little bit.”
15 counties in North Dakota are under burn bans or other fire restrictions.
