The end of tax return season is just around the corner.

For those who haven’t’ filed yet, they have until April 15th to get it done.

We speak with some filers about their tax return trends.

Phones are ringing off the hooks at tax preparation agencies and secretaries are flooded by those still needing to file their tax returns. Lonna Whiting is one of them.

Lonna Whiting says, “It is a very characteristic part of my personality to kind of wait. I do procrastinate but I get it done.”

While others are on the ball and getting their taxes filed months ago.

Some say it’s for the pure excitement of their big check.

Mandel Mertz says, “I paid some bills and have the rest in savings. I’m thinking I could maybe put it towards a little trip or something.”

Tax preparers say they can’t catch a break in the days leading up to the end of Tax Season and some believe the act of procrastination is out of fear.

Busek Olsen & Associates Inc.’s Tyler Price says, “A lot of people just psychologically don’t want to think about how much money they may have to pay in taxes. Usually that’s the type of clients we see.”

Sites like TurboTax are popular this time of year giving filers the chance to do it yourself but Price believes going to a tax preparer can help speed up the process and ensure you get the highest return possible for complex returns.

The Taxman Manager says, “If you don’t know how the numbers are supposed to flow into the tax return often times you can end up getting a tax return that you can file but it may not be the most efficient or the best tax return you could have file.”

If you haven’t filed your tax return yet the deadline in April 15 so you better hop on it or you will be paying up.

Price says, “If you have a balance due when you come in and we do your tax return and then you file an extension so you don’t have to send that in. You’re still owing that money April 15 so there’s interest that will accrue until you make that payment.”

Mertz adds, “It’s pretty easy.”

Helping you make it to the end of tax season stress free…

Tax agents also say to beware of tax scams as they continue preying on taxpayers using phone calls and emails.
