North Dakota Highway Patrolman Resigns Over False Tickets

A North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper has resigned after being accused of writing out fake tickets.

The patrol says Jeremie Meisel quit on Monday, about a month after being placed on administrative leave.

The state crime bureau investigated whether Meisel wrote out tickets that he did not actually issue, to make it appear that he was writing more tickets.

The Burleigh County State’s Attorney declined to prosecute.

Meisel joined the patrol in 2005.
