Power Outage Leaves Thousands Without Electricity

More than 7-thousand Xcel Energy customers in the Fargo area were without electricity Sunday morning.

Rain likely played a role in the power outages that affected several stop lights downtown Fargo.

A representative from Xcel says the rain wasn’t heavy enough to wash away dust build-up on insulators. That caused arching wires and fires on wooden power poles.

All power was restored around noon.
