Investigation Shows Thumper Pond Roof Not Inspected As Required
A roof collapse at Thumper Pond Resort is shining a light on how few Minnesota counties enforce a state law that requires inspections throughout new construction.
The roof collapsed shortly before midnight April 14.
No one was hurt, and the cause is not known.
The waterpark’s roof hadn’t been inspected as required in the State Building Code.
According to the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, only 22 of Minnesota’s 87 counties, and its larger cities and towns, enforce the state’s construction code.
