Ben Franklin Middle School students in Fargo get behind the wheel of their future careers.

Some students tell us how “Careers On Wheels” has changed what they want to be when they grow–up.

At the sound of the whistle, students venture to stations for F–M Ambulance Service, Fargo Fire Department, street department and others at “Careers On Wheels.”

Seventh Grader Emily Brown says, “I think this is cool that they’re doing this and giving us a chance to find out what we want to do when we grow up.”

Seventh Grader Steven Meyer says, “I think it’s nice that they’re able to come down here and show us the possibilities that we have right here in Fargo, North Dakota.”

Business representatives give short career presentations.

Students asked questions about the skills necessary for a particular job and toured the large scale vehicles.

BFMS Counselor Jeanne Keller says, “We want our students to start thinking about careers early. It really helps them selecting their courses as they go through middle school and high school. And it helps them focus more on what they want in life.”

Whether it’s working for the Fire Department, an Electric Company or Sanitation, students leave here with more of an idea for the future.

Brown says, “I want to do something that helps people and I don’t know just something I enjoy.”

Meyer says, “I would definitely be one of these careers.”

“Careers On Wheels” presentations will also be held at Carl Ben Eielson and Discovery Middle School in the coming weeks.
