Minnesota DNR Backs Out of Lawsuit Threat Against Detroit Lakes

The Minnesota DNR is backing away from its threat to file a lawsuit against the city of Detroit Lakes for approving a new hotel, restaurant and condo complex near the lake.

In a letter to Detroit Lakes Mayor Matt Brenk, DNR Commissioner Tom Landwehr says he’s disappointed in the city’s position, but says he believes it’s in the best interest to avoid litigation.

The DNR is concerned about the project’s environmental impacts.

The Detroit Lakes City Council has approved the nearly $12 million project.
