Xcel Energy Buys Windfarm

Xcel Energy has decided to “buy” an unfinished 100-turbine farm near Jamestown, instead of just buying power from the turbines.

Geronimo Energy of Edina had begun work on the farm, but said the project was in jeopardy over North Dakota tax rules and the lack of a utility willing to run it.

Xcel will now spend $300 million to buy and complete the project.
The company has also recently added three other new wind farms to its portfolio.
