Young Voters Absent in Fargo’s Special Election
Young people in the community seemed to have no interest in last Tuesday’s special election in Fargo to pick a mayor and city commissioner.
Data collected at the 6 voting centers shows 18 to 24-year-olds were “pretty much absent”.
Only 333 people in that age group cast ballots.
The bulk of the voters were in the 55 to 64 age group, with slightly more than 38-hundred votes.
A surprise in the data was that one of the peak times for voter turnout was between 11 a.m. and noon.
Around 15,500 people voted either early, absentee, or on Election Day.
