MATBUS Surveys For Customer Concerns

MATBUS wants to improve its services and wants to hear your voice.

Fargo–Moorhead Metropolitan Council of Government, also known as Metro COG, and Metro Area Transits are conducting public surveys as part of their 2016–2020 Transit Development Plan.

Riders tells us their biggest MATBUS concerns.

Charles Beell is one of many riders waiting at the West Acres Mall stop.

Fargo Resident Charles Beell says, “People ain’t got cars. You know, got DUIs. They can’t drive so they need a way to get back and forth to work.”

Many riders like Beell hope to see new service destinations like the Industrial Park added to the MATBUS route.

Pat Shaughnessy just wants to see buses available past 7:30 pm every day for West Fargo.

West Fargo Resident Pat Shaughnessy says, “Any activity in the downtown area just doesn’t happen so I’d like to see extended hours for the West Fargo route.”

Every five years, the Transit Development Plan uses surveys to help Metro C–O–G and Metro Area Transit improve its services.

It’s a requirement for federal funding.

Bill Troe says, “Our customer changed in the last 5-years as to where they live, what their needs are and is it time to modify our service to better serve the customer that we have today?”

Metro COG and MATBUS hope that after today the issues and concerns of riders will be more clear.

The Transportation Planner says, “Ask themselves and ask others the question of are there things that we could be doing better? Are there things that we can afford to do that would improve our service relative to our customer?”

If you miss today’s MATBUS survey, you can leave your comments with the bus driver.

Riders hope the Transit Development Plan brings a brighter and smoother future.

Beell adds, “To survive in this town.”

Public participation opportunities will continue to be held throughout the transit development planning process.
