CCRI “Refusing the Sidelines” Motivational Speaker Luncheon

Tuesday, June 2, 2015
11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Courtyard by Marriott in Moorhead, MN

CCRI invites you to their “Refusing the Sidelines” luncheon. They welcome internationally-recognized motivational speaker Scott Burrows, a former wide receiver at Florida State University and a top-ranked kick-boxing champion. After a serious accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down, Scott learned to overcome adversity—even his own paralysis—astonishing his doctors, therapists, family and friends along the way.

Burrows will be introduced by Moorhead guest speaker Mitchell Benson, a former Stephen Argyle football player who, after an accident at age 23, was also paralyzed. Benson utilized the resources of CCRI, Minnesota Vocational Rehab and North Dakota State University Disability services to enroll at NDSU just two years after his injury. Through creative care and the use of advancing technology, Benson gained back his independence and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in December of 2014.
