Construction Season is Here

Summer is on its way, along with construction in tow.

Orange cones and construction signs are popping up around the area, which many people aren’t excited about.

Michael Kvislen who commutes through Fargo said,”Ah, take more time getting around, tougher to go when you’re expecting to go one route and you get detoured to another one.”

One Fargo city engineer says this year’s construction season will be different than last year.

Transportation Division Engineer Jeremy Gorden said, “We had an influx of $5 million in state funds to years ago and we were banking on half of that last year, now that ends up being no extra money from the state, so we’ve had to scale back a little bit.”

It’s been a mess here on 32nd street in west Fargo while expanding the lanes, and will spread into Fargo in June.

Living in Fargo, Drew Thompson said, “It’s going to be nice having that road freed up, but oh my goodness I just hate having to go through the waiting process of waiting for it to get done.”

Parts of 1st avenue north will be closed for at least a 1 ½ for the floodwall…and if you haven’t already seen, 2nd street to 4th street south off of main avenue is also out of commission.

“It’s annoying, but necessary mostly,” said Thompson.

And although some signs show end road work, the real construction season is only beginning.
