Man Dies of Injuries in Weekend Bar Assault; Prosecutors File Murder Charges

Thirty-five-year-old Joey Allen Gaarsland has died at an area hospital after a brutal attack outside Speck’s Bar in Fargo that happened over the weekend.

The Fargo Police Department was notified that the father of five passed away early this morning.

Suspects Jessy Olson, Scott Moen, Jason Oien and Nicholas Morris have been arrested for aggravated assault.

Police say the men punched and kicked Gaarsland in the parking lot between Rick’s Bar and Speck’s Bar early Sunday morning.

Gaarsland’s wife Laura was also assaulted and knocked unconscious.

According to a press release, the Fargo Police Department will be working with the Cass County State Attorney’s Office in developing an appropriate investigative and prosecutorial strategy.
