Families Plot A Summer Of The Great Outdoors

There are endless possibilities for kids on summer vacation.

Some go out of town while others prefer to take advantage of the many options right in their local community’s backyard.

From teacher farewells to that final bus ride from school, the fun filled days of summer begin.

7-year-old Elliot Sjurseth says, “Play outside. Go to the park.”

As a mother of 5, Amy Sjurseth has a full itinerary.

Mother of five Amy Sjurseth says, “Sports or theatre with the theatre programs or different music programs. Music lessons with my kids and just catching a Redhawks game.”

For those looking to take to the great outdoors and be active, TNT Kid’s Fitness & Gymnastics offer programs for children as little as eight months old up to 18–years–old.

Chelsea Cash says, “Summer camp which we’re doing right now so kids come in around 7:45 in the morning and they can leave at 6pm and we provide healthy lunches and snacks and activities. We teach them things and we go to parks and pools.”

TNT says it’s important to keep your little ones active during the months off from school.

The TNT Instructor adds, “In order for kids to continue learning and growing their minds in the summer they need as much movement and interaction with their peers as possible.”

West Fargo’s Veterans Memorial Pool along with all Fargo Pools are open for the season.

West Fargo Park District Jamie Olsen says, “It’s got two one enclosed slide, one open slide, kiddie slides, mushroom, water bar bubblers.

School may be out for summer but the learning doesn’t have to stop there.

Amy says, “Today’s really the summer school for me where mom’s the teacher.”

Elliott says, “Not thinking about it.”

Moorhead outdoor pools are scheduled to open on June 6 and Dilworth’s on June 7.

Admission rates for children 18 and under is $2.20 and adults is $3.25.

Pools with waterslides will charge $3.25 for all ages.

Family rates and season passes are available upon request.
