Essentia Health is celebrating the opening of their new $50 million hospital tower.
It’s already begun helping patients and hospital leaders say they’re ready to keep serving a growing population.
It’s Essentia Health’s newest addition to their hospital on 32nd Avenue South in Fargo.
Leaders gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the new space that will help serve many in the valley.
Gayle Bye has worked at the hospital since 2000 and says the new space is a great benefit.
“They come into a new facility and they’re just like, wow this is such a nice place to be. That starts the day out right, right away,” said Critical Care Services and Dialysis Manager Gayle Bye.
The new 105,000 square foot space has four floors and a basement.
The expansion also doubled the amount of rooms in the emergency department.
Hospital leaders say the design helps promote peace and tranquility.
“Patients were very involved in the process of designing the facility that we have here today from parking lot, to admission, to patient care and then through the discharge process,” said Essentia Health West Region Chief Operating Officer Tim Sayler.
Essentia Health’s new building focuses on providing better and faster care with things like this sliding door and newer technologies.
“We need to continue to commit the resources to take care of the people in the Red River valley because that’s what we’re here for it’s to serve the patients,” said Essentia Health West Region President Dr. Greg Glasner.
A CT Scanner and state of the art radiology equipment are just some of the new technologies in the building.
They’re tools that will help employees like Bye do the job she loves.
“I can’t think of any greater purpose or calling, than to be in a career where you’re helping people heal,” said Bye.
It’s an addition that will expand the number of people the hospital serves, while providing more services.
The basement of the building will hold a new lab, kitchen, dining area and auditorium.
