One Couple is leaving their mark at the YMCA after 50–years of giving back to those in need.

As a way to raise money, Ralph and Darlene Jose have traveled cross–country on motorcycle, and are gearing up for their last ride.

KVRR’s Brittany Ford has the story.

As a part of his love for the Y, part time worker Ralph Jose started the fundraiser “Ralph and Darlene’s Ride”

The ride is a part of the Y’s partner of Youth Campaign, which provides scholarships for those who cannot afford childcare, camps, and lessons.

Ralph says giving up the tradition of the ride on the 50th anniversary just felt right.

“Like anytime you leave work, retire, I’m just going to sit down and not do anything. I’ve been retired for a number of years now and we have never sat down once,” said YMCA Employee Ralph Jose.

The couple’s final cross–country bike ride will be to Glacier National Park, where they took their first road trip together.

Not only are Ralph and Darlene highly involved in the YMCA it also has become a family tradition.

Ralph and Darlene’s granddaughter Hannah teaches swimming lessons at the Y.

“My grandma comes and my mom comes and works out you know it’s just having that and say hey my grandpa works here too,” said Hannah Kearns granddaughter of Ralph and Darlene.

Through pledges and donations “Ralphs Ride” has been able to raise 22–thousand dollars since 2012.

We would like to wish them safe travels on their final trip. Brittany Ford KVRR News.

The couple is set to take on the rugged mountains and roadways Saturday morning at 7am.
