Fargo Rally For Race Unity Day
Some in Fargo are trying to unite different races in the community to create a better understanding of other cultures.
A local Buddhist monk, and different games were all party of Rally for Race Unity Day.
It’s an event organized by members of the Baha’i faith to help unite members of our community.
“All the races are human beings and no matter where you come from, we’re all related, and this is to remind us to be unified because we’re human beings,” said Bonnie Cote of Fargo.
Organizers say they hope to create a more peaceful society through events like these.
“Until we know each other, we will have conflict and we need to eliminate the conflict,” said organizer Marian Kadrie.
Throughout the day people took part in different activities symbolizing different cultures.
Cote is working on a Mexican inspired project.
“It started out representing when a child was born and then each year that family would add another color or yarn to it to try and keep track of how old they were,” said Cote.
“There’s only one race, and that’s the human race and we need to really arrive at recognizing that we are members of one family,” said Kadrie.
It’s a day where people gather to learn more about how others live.
Organizers say the Rally for Race Unity Day is an annual event in the Baha’i calendar.
