A collaborative workspace in downtown Fargo recently closed its doors, but another is ready to open them right back up.
Emerging Prairie, a digital media company, is replacing CoCo with The Prairie Den.
These sights of the collaborative workspace CoCo no longer exist.
It was a location where people, small businesses, and corporate work groups could work together and connect.
The Prairie Den is now ready to take over the building and run their own workspace.
“CoCo laid the foundation for co–working and Fargo and for that we’re very thankful but The Prairie Den really is an entirely different space. A reimagination, a reinvention of what co–working can be here in Fargo,” said Annie Wood with Emerging Prairie.
Emerging Prairie leaders say CoCo’s business model may not work in smaller cities like Fargo.
Brian Crommett says his company, 702 Communications is partnering with The Prairie Den.
His company will be able to use the space for upcoming meetings and things like video game meetups.
“Really it’s a very natural partnership for us and them, because we’re both small and local and we’re really committed to enhancing opportunities in this community,” said Crommett.
“Leaders of The Prairie Den say they’re excited and confident about the new business model because they reshaped how people will connect.”
“We want to make the space very relational and so I think that’s the aspect that’s going to make us very different than what you might have seen previously in Fargo. We do different levels of membership, obviously that’s the sustainable way to finance a space like this,” said Wood.
The Prairie Den’s leaders say they want to open the space up for events and make it easier for people like Crommett to connect with others.
“If you get the right people together at the right time with the right idea, you can do anything and so really that’s what we’re looking for,” said Crommett.
A new company that hopes to connect people and businesses to create new ideas.
The Prairie Den is expected to open on July 6th.
