It’s wedding season and many couples planning their special day are seeing the dollar signs add up.

KVRR’s Brittany Ford has how you can still make your day special without emptying your saving account.

Wedding planners at the Avalon in Fargo say some of the largest wedding expenses tend to be the venue, the food, and the flowers.

When it comes to reducing the price of your venue, planners suggest you shop around.

“Pair of a jeans or a dress something you can go to a store that is very expensive or you can go somewhere else,” said Tom Poole Wedding Planner at Avalon.

When it comes to wedding décor, flowers tend to be the most overdone expense couples can cut costs on.

“Come to the wedding want to see bride and groom primarily the bride it’s her day. There’s a lot of flowers and when you have a room full of guests, flowers are sometimes hard to see,” said Wedding Planner Tom Poole.

Rachel Wassberg has worked at her families flower shop since she was a teenager, and says when it comes to cutting the cost of flowers, brides should focus more on the wedding and less on the reception.

“I recommend that brides should really focus majority of their money on bridal bouquet, the bridesmaids. Stuff that’s going to be their pictures because that’s what you’re going to see for the rest of your life so you got to make sure you’re happy with them,” said Rachel Wassberg of Dalbol Flowers.

Wassberg also says when it comes to substituting fake for real; you’re better off keeping it authentic.

“Cheaper fake flowers end up being expensive as real ones. Unless you can get them on a super sale or something there not that much cheaper actually,” said Rachel Wassberg of Dalbol Flowers.

Other cutting cost tips include having a cash only bar, getting relatives to help instead of hiring professionals, and of course, trimming your guest list. Brittany Ford KVRR.com

Avalon wedding planners say that the average cost of a wedding in the U-S is 31-thousand dollars.
