Knodel and Attorney Happy With State’s Decision

Aaron Knodel’s attorney is speaking out for the first time since prosecutors decided to file a motion to dismiss the remaining two charges.

Robert Hoy says that he and his client are happy with the state’s decision.

Knodel was on trial for an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student in 2009. A judge had declared a mistrial on two of the five counts.

Hoy says Knodel and his family are looking forward to Father’s Day.

An attorney in Bismarck is handling the West Fargo teacher’s suspension.

Hoy says Knodel hopes to get back into the classroom.

“We’re pleased that the state finally did the right thing here and dismissed the two remaining charges against Mr. Knodel. The jury found him not guilty of the other three. It’s good to have these last two dismissed and gone so he can get on with his life,” Hoy says.

We have attempted to contact the prosecution but we have not heard back from them.

A judge will make the final decision on dismissing the charges. That could happen next week.
