Swimmers Take On Major Challenge

Dozens of swimmers are recovering after the longest race in North America.

The 4th Annual Extreme North Dakota Watersports Endurance Test kicked off in the early morning at Belmont Park near Climax.

It’s a 36 mile race where solo or relay swimmers travel from rural North Dakota into East Grand Forks.

Racers follow the Red River’s current.

Race Director Casey Kobilansky said, “It’s a really unique race. There’s nowhere anywhere in North America that’s like this race, so it’s cool that we can have something like this in the North Dakota community.”

Tune in to KVRR News at nine tomorrow night to meet some of the brave athletes.
