Police in central North Dakota are still investigating a murder-suicide that happened on Tuesday night near Fessenden.

34-year-old Brady Wolff allegedly shot and killed his ex-girlfriend, Samantha Maxwell before killing himself.

Maxwell was picking up the couple’s daughter from Wolff.

KVRR’s Bianca Buono is at the scene of the crime and joins us with the latest information.

Alison and TJ, police found the bodies of Samantha Maxwell and Brady Wolff right here just two days ago.

Maxwell was not just meeting Wolff to pick up their three-year-old daughter Grace.

The Wells County Sheriff was on his way to meet her here to serve Wolff with a restraining order that she had filed for that morning.

Wolff knew what Maxwell was planning to do and unfortunately by the time the sheriff got here it was too late.

“When I got there it was very emotional for me even as a law enforcement officer, as a person. It was very, it was, um, I kind of lost my feelings there for a moment,” says Sheriff Johnny Lawson.

People in the town of Fessenden which is about 20 minutes from here are devastated about the news.

“She was always fun. She was one of my favorite babysitters and she lived about a mile away from my house so it was kind of odd to know that now she’s just not going to be around anymore,” says Caitlan Wolkenhauer from Fessenden.

Grace is safe and is staying with Maxwell’s family in Fessenden.

I’ll have more details about this tragic story at 9.
