Moorhead Police and several other law enforcement agencies responded to shots fired near Romkey Park earlier this afternoon.

Moorhead Police say it’s tied to a possible robbery.

KVRR’S Brittany Ford joins us live with the latest details. Brittany?

Alison and TJ Moorhead Police have confirmed that while a gunshot was fired, the victim was pistol whipped and not shot.

27 year old Alfred Lamar shown here and 25 year old Lawrence Leslie Jr. both from Moorhead are now behind bars.

MSUM and the Romkey Park Pool, only blocks away from the scene, were put on lockdown for a short time until police captured two suspects.

“A lot of details we still have to work out.  Initial witness information…possibly a robbery…we don’t know the relationship between the victims and the parties we have in custody at this time,” said Lt. Tory Jacobson of Moorhead Police.

Two guns were found at the scene and police confirm one of the suspects left at least one of them behind after the shooting.

One witness also shared with us that the crime in the area has been back to back this summer.

“It’s changed this summer a lot. We’ve been in Prairie View Apartments for less than 7 months. It’s every night now we have gun shots, fighting, people partying,” said Witness Robert Raisch.

Raisch says he saw an undercover police car following another car to the apartment building just before the shooting started.

“Went into the driveway…I could tell ’cause the cop turned around, and was following him but before they even made it a mile I heard argue and I heard a gunshot and they were just lucky they were right there when it happened,” said witness on Robert Raisch.

Police say the group of people involved had arranged to meet, although it’s not clear why it ended in violence.

The investigation is ongoing.
