Beat the Summer Heat

Today was a hot one in the valley and the Red Cross is offering important tips so you can beat the heat.

Temperatures can reach dangerous levels in vehicles so never leave children or pets in them alone.

Wear loose-fitting, lightweight, light-colored clothing.

Take frequent breaks and even if you’re not thirsty drink more water to avoid dehydration.

Seth Marts from Moorhead said, “Oh that’s a big issue, you’re sitting there and even sitting there you’re sweating out all of your water and toxins. So it’s good to re-hydrate and keep yourself healthy. So drink that water.”

Representatives from the Red Cross also say excessive heat can lead to sunburn, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
