Many local students can’t afford school supplies for the upcoming academic year.
The United Way is now collecting school supplies for those students who need it the most.
They say new backpacks, binders and loose leaf white paper are some of the most needed items.
There are places to donate throughout Fargo–Moorhead, including at every Gate City Bank location.
“This program is really more than just about school supplies, it’s more than just pencils and crayons and scissors and paper. It’s about letting the kids know that they’re valued,” said Ellen Hopkins Principal Ryan LaDage.
More than 5,000 local students were impacted through the drive just last year.
The backpacks will be given out August 8 and 11 at the Fargodome.
