It’s day three of the Christopher Hampton trial.
The Fargo man accused of murdering his roommate.
KVRR’s Brittany Ford was in the courtroom, and has the controversy surrounding an alleged poisoned Gatorade bottle that Hampton says motivated the shooting.
The defense focused on how the Gatorade bottle that Hampton claimed was poisoned by his cousin was never taken as evidence or sampled by police.
The prosecution took a deeper look into the crime scene investigation.
They played Hampton’s initial 911 call that he had been poisoned for the jury.
“You drank Gatorade on Monday and you think your cousin poisoned you? Yes. Because me and him have been really bad argument for the past month, month and a half. You want to show somebody? I said yeah I want to show somebody. Why would you pour that out man somebody poisoned my drink or something!”
The officer that responded to Hampton’s 911 call, admitted that Hampton expressed that this cousin was a convicted felon, and he wanted the fire arms removed from his home.”
Officer Adam O’Brien explained in his defense that due to Hampton’s delusional state he didn’t feel that his threat was credible.
“After my client had sent letters to other people complaining that you didn’t take his compliant seriously. Complaining that I didn’t remove the fire arm from the house.”
The evidence technician that responded to the scene also failed to take the Gatorade bottle for further investigation.
“Another Gatorade bottle. Yes”
The trial will continue tomorrow.
