“Fearless”: Grace Woods Brings Life to Music
Sorry, this video is no longer available
Three months ago, we introduced you to Grace Woods, a Thief River Falls teenager fighting terminal bone cancer.
Much like she inspired us, she has recently inspired a local singer.
Fearless. The first word that Thief River Falls singer Saphire Brown thought of when she met Grace Woods for the first time.
And it’s the title of her latest single which she wrote hours after that first meeting.
“You shouldn’t have to find out you’re dying to find out how precious life is,” says Grace in the Saphire Brown music video.
A touching message that starts off the video about the 16-year-old fighting terminal bone cancer.
“I actually cried the first time I saw it,” says Grace.
It’s an emotional reaction that nearly everyone has when they see the video, including two of Grace’s friends who helped shoot it with her.
“They lyrics were like spot on for Grace and like describing her and her situation and stuff,” her friends JaeCee and Jadyn say.
They, like Grace and her family, know that her days are numbered.
“I did meet with hospice so they have been visiting me. Other than that I’ve been feeling fine I’ve still been doing stuff,” Grace says.
And while she says being surrounded by loving friends is keeping her alive…
“We try and make it feel as normal as possible,” say her friends JaeCee Pribyl and Jadyn Schindler.
Her friends say Grace’s emotional strength is what’s stopping them from breaking down.
“It’s been hard. I don’t know we try to keep her active,” Schindler and Pribyl say.
“When I found out I started looking at life completely different and it shouldn’t have had to be that way so everyone should be looking at how precious life is,” she says.
Grace is a 16-year-old girl that is truly fearless.
