The fate of Christopher Hampton is in the hand of the jury.

The Fargo man is accused of murdering his cousin.

KVRR’s Brittany Ford was in court and has the details.

The prosecution highlighted to the jury Hampton’s drug use before the shooting.

How he was obsessed with the fact that he believed he was being poisoned, which doctors found no sign of.

Younggren asked the jury to look at the objective facts.

The five shots fired, one being in the back of the head, and the house that showed no signs of a physical struggle.

“He had had enough of what the doctors had to tell him. He had had enough of what cops had to tell him. He had had enough of what his boss had to tell him. Most importantly, he had had enough of Randall,” said Prosecutor Ryan Younggren.

As the defense began their closing statements they focused on how Randall Doehners military experience and aggressive behavior were ingredients for violence.

“This cousin is a former Marine a trained killer. He has experience, he has training using that firearm and you know that,” said Hampton’s Attorney Nick Thornton.

Thornton also pointed out to the jury how Doenher’s death was not fueled by a motive and could have been avoided.

Pointing out Hampton’s plea to remove the firearms out of his home 12 hours before the shooting even happened.

“Why do you fear for your life? Because my cousin…this violent convicted felon…has firearms in my house, and I don’t want them there,” said Hampton’s Attorney Nick Thornton.
