Flying Along with National Guard Pilot John Klatt

The Fargo AirSho is just days away, and some of the nation’s most talented pilots are gearing up for Saturday’s big kick-off.
KVRR’s Brittany Ford took a fly along and shows us what we can expect to see.
I put on my flying gear and got see what it is like to tumble, twist, and soar with Air National Guard pilot John Klatt, in his plane.
“I’ve had a specular career flying planes, and all that is a part of being with a great team. The Air National Guard is like a family organization where we fly, fight, and win,” says Klatt.
Klatt has over 1500 hours of flight time under his belt and is one of the country’s top air show performers.
Aerobatic stunts like the ones I got to experience today, the plane reached up to 200 miles per hour.
We practiced some of Klatt’s favorite maneuvers in his Xtra 300-L aircraft.
The hammerhead, the tumble, and flying upside down.
As a Minnesota native, he says he loves performing at The Fargo AirSho.
“You know what this is a great air show. They really put together one of the finest air shows the Blue Angels are just ramping up right now, and some of the best civilian performers, and I’m a Midwest guy so I feel like I’m at home.”
The Blue Angels are also preparing for Saturday’s show.
One pilot shared with us air stunts you can expect to see.
“Really gets me amped my two favorite maneuvers I’d say the diamond 360 that’s our closest set Andy and I probably be about six inches apart, second low break cross where we come up from behind the crowd as a diamond and split off,” says Lt. Matt Sayderhoud, Blue Angels Pilot.
