Fargodome Closer To Alcohol Sales?
Drinking alcohol at an NDSU football game this season is a very real possibility.
KVRR sat down with the Fargodome board president to discuss the idea.
Beer and Bison fans aren’t an unusual combination when it comes to tailgating during football season.
The idea of buying alcohol inside the Fargodome this year is a real possibility.
This idea stems from NDSU’s president not seeing a problem with selling alcohol in the suites.
“If we’re going to make it available to people in the suites, it ought to somehow be available for all the other people who are in attendance at the bison football games,” says Fargodome Board President John Paulsen.
So what do fans of the green and gold think?
If alcohol will be sold in the dome, a beer garden would be a potential option.
“In moderation you know, it’s pretty well regulated. All the other sporting events seem to have that,” says Bison fan Bret Fehr.
“It’s being offered in stadiums really, quite a wide spread bases around the country so we just decided to take it on,” Paulsen says.
And he’s right, according to the Associated Press, last football season 31 schools allowed alcohol sold to the general public.
NDSU students say alcohol sold at the games, could take on a much bigger issue.
“A lot of students tend to binge drink before the games, so I believe by selling alcohol in the Fargodome might prevent that,” says NDSU student Barbara Senger.
If passed by the board and city commission, you may be able to drink at the game come mid-season.
Recommendations will be made on the idea at the Fargodome board meeting this Tuesday.
