Skydive Fargo- Inside The Club

It’s a lifetime goal for many people; skydiving. Some call it exciting, and others say it’s terrifying.

It’s one of the biggest jumps you can take.
These jumpers out of the Skydive Fargo club are soaring in the skies of West Fargo.
Falls reach speeds of more than 100 miles an hour, but just what does it take to take the leap?

“First thing is just the courage to do it,” said Jason Hanson with Skydive Fargo.

Hanson is an instructor with Skydive Fargo.
He’s a five year veteran with more than 800 jumps and he says training is simple for your first jump.

“Mainly just talking about the free fall position, the proper body position and ways to exit the airplane and how to land are kind of the main points,” said Hanson.

He says it takes around an hour for you to fill out paperwork and get the training necessary for a tandem jump; a jump with an instructor attached.

Riley Didier jumped for the first time and has been planning the jump for the last year.
He even lost weight for the big day.

“I had to lose 22 pounds and then had to save up a lot of money,” said Didier of Fargo.

His mom says the anticipation has been building for her son’s big jump.

“I think it’s pretty cool, it’s something he’s always wanted to do and he’s doing it,” said Renee Didier of Casselton.

And after it was all said and done… it’s an experience he says he’ll definitely want to do again.

Didier’s friend Brad Cadwell also took part in the experience.
He’s a thrill seeker who couldn’t pass up the experience with his friend.

Oh, the wind was just, the rush of the wind was pushing you down so you couldn’t hardly look up,” said Cadwell of Fargo.

Hanson says there’s one hurdle first time jumpers must face.

“Usually for everyone, once the door opens, that’s kind of when everything gets real.
That’s when it got real for me and my first jump; I wasn’t nervous at all until that door opened and I’m like, I’m having second thoughts now,” said Hanson.

But for these friends, the jumps have been conquered and Skydive Fargo has two more members.
