Day one of WE Fest is almost over. Country music fans from around the nation made their way to Detroit Lakes for the first of three days.

And they’re off! Thousands of country music fans flood the gates and enter Soo Pass Ranch for day one of the 32nd WE Fest.

This year’s lineup features major country music stars. But every fan has their favorite.

“It would probably be Miranda Lambert or Rascal Flatts.”

“Hank Williams Junior.”

“I’m really looking forward to Blake Shelton. That’s my favorite.”

Kara Savage and Meghan Maculay came down from Winnipeg for the show. They’ve both been before and say there’s no better place to watch country music.

“I just like the atmosphere. There’s tons of people. Everyone’s from different areas,” says Savage and Maculay.

Much like Waylon Lerol. Like many, he likes WE Fest because…

“Well, it’s wild. It’s fun. I mean everyone’s welcome and everyone’s nice,” says Waylon Lerol of Stillwater, Minn.

Equipped with corn hole and all, this festival was built to entertain. And they expect around 50,000 people on these grounds every day.

“I really think it’s just, you know, you get to party, you get to listen to great music, you get to have a good time. I think it’s a release from our regular day to day lives,” says Amber Brockopp of Moorhead.

Tonight’s headliner is Rascal Flatts but this is just the beginning.

Tickets and camping passes are still available.
