One Glyndon man is carving his own career path to pursue a special kind of art.

Driving through Glyndon, a spot on the side of the road might catch your eye and ear.

Andy Lake Woodworks has been here for two months, and chainsaw wood sculptures are being sold non–stop thanks to Scott Petry’s work.

Petry switched from going into elementary education to becoming a wood work artist.

Scott Petry said,”With all the orders right away I ended up kind of decided not to teach for a while, and I always wanted to be an artist. That was my true dream so, I get to try it out for a while and so far it’s going good!”

A father and daughter stop to admire two bears and a beehive, now it’s theirs to own.

Walt Dworak of Omaha said, “I mean I think that’s strict talent I think everybody has a talent in the world and this is a really neat deal that he does.”

All of the art is made by Scott, and when he’s not making them he’s thinking about them.

“I have a pretty good eye I have a pretty good vision with wood now, it’s almost kind of scary driving on the street I’ll see a tree and I’ll start brainstorming what I can do with it,”said Petry.

If you want a certain look to your statue, Scott will customize it.

“He has a black lab over there with a duck in his mouth and we have  a Chesapeake so we’ll probably have him do another one for us and put it in another area of our yard,”said Dworak.

Wood chips will continue to fly and Scott’s creativity makes the cut.
