Grand Forks Police are welcoming a new, furry member into their department.
Police Chief Mark Nelson swore in K9 Shelby, a two-year-old female Belgian Malinois alongside her handler, Officer Andrew Ebertowski.
She recently graduated from the Winnipeg Police Service K9 Handling Course.
It’s a 17 week program that certifies the team for tracking, building searches and more.
“It is an exciting thing; we’ve been through a lot together in the last year since I’ve got her. That being said, I know that we still have a lot of work left to do. There’s a lot that we can do to serve the community in many different ways so, looking forward to the future,” says K9 Officer Erbertowski.
K9 Shelby is joining two other K9s at the Grand Forks Police Department.
