Many students at NDSU are finishing up their move into the residence halls.
Kayla Schneider is moving into her new space at NDSU.
She’s one of more than 3000 students moving into the residence halls this weekend.
“I got three suitcases and a laundry basket full of stuff and yeah, one fridge,” said Schneider.
Her mom and grandma are helping her move in.
“I told her that I’m going to be sad, but I’m also happy for her to start a new chapter in her life, and yeah I guess I’ll be coming to Fargo more to see her,” said Schneider mom Rachel Johnson.
She comes from a small town outside of Morris so she’s a little worried about coming to a big school.
“Really nervous. It’s interesting about all the new things that you’re going through,” said Schneider.
“Some students already moved in earlier in the weekend and they say they simply can’t wait for classes to start.”
“I’m super excited,” said NDSU Freshman Beth Podoll.
Podoll already has her room decked out with a fan, fridge and furniture.
“As soon as I got here and I met my roommate and met some new people, it was good,” said Podoll.
“Any time you get to opening day, it just reminds you of why we do what we do. It’s our busiest yet most exciting day of the year,” said Residence Life Director Rian Nostrum.
As students like Schneider move in, they’ll be looking forward to one Bison tradition.
“Really excited. I’m excited to go the football games,” said Schneider.
Hundreds of student’s volunteers helped incoming freshmen move in over the weekend.
