Flames engulf a wheat field near Barnesville.

The fire broke out around noon.

A welder hit an irrigator and it erupted in flames.

Witnesses say it looked as though an atomic bomb went off.

Firefighters were able to keep it contained to just the wheat field.

“Definitely all of Barnesville fire is out here and there are a few officers that are here also but their hopes are that they can stop it without it jumping the road because then it will be a whole new thing,” says Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist.

One Barnesville firefighter was taken to the hospital.

He’s expected to be okay.
