People in Fargo will soon be able to go have a beer a little earlier on Sundays.

The Fargo City Commission is expected to approve the allowing of alcohol sales in restaurants and bars to start at 11am, instead of waiting until noon.

The change will be discussed at the next city meeting, and could take effect as early as September 20th.

The change follows the decision by the legislature to allow earlier Sunday liquor sales.

“What the city can do is we can make things more restrictive so we can say no we want it to be at 2pm not 11am, but we can’t be less restrictive and say they can open at 10am. All we’re doing is going in line what hat the state has done,” says City Commissioner Tony Gehrig.

Liquor stores will still be required to wait to open at noon on Sundays.
