Grand Forks Police and Fire Departments Battle for Blood

Grand Forks Police and Fire Departments are engaging in a little competition all for a good cause.

The annual Battle of the Badges has people donating blood and picking a side to support.

In this year’s competition the firefighters are attempting to take the title back from police.

The friendly battle is a way the community can contribute to the growing need for blood donors in Grand Forks County.

“It started after 9/11. So it’s in honor of September 11th, and remembrance of it and there just giving blood to boost that in honor of that, and it’s turned into a huge competition so it’s been going on for a while,” says Monica Janssen,  Donor Resource Coordinator.

The “Battle of the Badges” is hosted by Altru Heathcare.
