Heavy Backpacks Weigh Down Students

With a new school year comes new textbooks, and a heavy backpack.
WestEnd Spine and Rehab along with the Arthritis Foundation wants to make sure your child isn’t at risk for developing chronic back pain.
Arthritis affects over 300,000 children across the country and Dr. Tyler Hagen says heavy backpacks aren’t something to be taken lightly.
“Heavy backpacks can put a lot of stress on the body and if you’re not carrying it correctly it can lead to poor posture and that can lead to some postural issues; headaches, neck pain, some back pain,” says Dr. Tyler Hagen, owner of WestEnd Spine and Rehab.
WestEnd Spine and Rehab will also be teaming with this year’s Jingle Bell Run, benefiting the arthritis foundation.
Anyone is welcome to join the team by signing up on the Jingle Bell Run website.
