Students Solve Problems…Shark Tank Style

Kids are learning first–hand how to swim with the big sharks.

Much like the popular show shark tank, sixth graders at Carl Ben Eielson Middle School competed to be hired.

It’s all part of the project based learning style where students get a real life problem, come up with a solution, and sell it.

“We all agree that we didn’t do anything like this when we were in 6th grade. So I think it’s starting early to teach kids skills that they need when they’re going to graduate, when they’re going to be out of school. Skills that they need in school,” says Fargo School Board Member, Dinah Goldenberg.

The sixth graders competed in teams, solving how to clean up an oil spill. The school plans to host more shark tanks this school year.
