The Fargo Public School District’s newest addition is taking shape.

The addition to Eagles Elementary in South Fargo is on schedule and on time.

By Fall 2016, Eagles Elementary will be just shy of doubling in size.

The Fargo Public School District is adding on an additional 30,000 square feet to the buildings current 40,000.

And the interior layout will have a familiar look.

“The hallway spaces, the commons, it’s going to look very similar to what we have at El Clapp,” says Fargo Superintendent Schatz.

Superintendent Schatz explains that the district decided to add to the space as a low cost solution to potentially having to build an entire new school.

“It’s a proactive move to get us in a position so we don’t have don’t have to get into overcrowding situations prior to doing something,” said Fargo Superintendent Schatz.

The district has set a goal to have the building fully enclosed by the first snow fall.

Not only will the new additional space be top of the line, the original school building will also be getting a face lift of its own.

The interior and exterior of the existing building will be getting a new paint job, and a few other slight alterations to match its new addition.

Soon to be principal at Eagle’s Elementary Tanya Lingle says she is enjoying the preparation process.

“This is meshing the old with the new in trying to make sure that it does look like it was completed at the same time. It is something we’re excited about working on,” said Principal Tanya Lingle.

The future three section elementary school will hold a capacity of 400 hundred students.

The entire add on project will cost $8.8 million dollars.
