350 people die every day from addiction according to ReGROUP, peer advocates for addiction recovery based in Minnesota.

The addiction recovery group joined the national movement “Unite to Face Addiction”.

A handful of people braved the cooler weather to attend the event on the Veterans Memorial Bridget between Fargo and Moorhead.

They had a chance to hear from speakers including a recovering addict.

They made their plea to remember addiction is a disease.

“What we’re trying to do here tonight is make sure people know that there are 23 million people in long term recovery and that’s something to be celebrated so we need to draw attention to the disease of addiction,” says ReGROUP board member, Steve Wurzer.

ReGROUP in Moorhead works on peer to peer recovery, making sure individuals in recovery are there for people who are seeking it.
