Protesters Gather Outside Fargo’s Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood has been a hot item in the news, and both supporters and protesters are letting their voices be heard across the nation including right here in Fargo.

KVRR’s Sarah Brechbill went to one of the protests downtown.

Waving signs and distributing pamphlets, protesters line Main Avenue with one goal in mind.

“It’s been a continuous effort to bring to the public what abortion really is, the truth of abortion. The taking of an innocent life and at the same time having an adverse effect on that mother, that pregnant woman and her family,” says a member of North Dakota Family Alliance, Tom Freier.

But with any controversy, there’s always another side.

“A lot of the people who do it don’t weigh the other acts and services provided by planned parenthood including being one of the larger non–profit health organizations that do service people in low income communities,” says Rev. Wardzinski of Fargo.

Planned Parenthood has been making headlines, after a video was released of an employee discussing how to abort a fetus to preserve its organs for medical research, an issue sparking controversy nationwide.

“Planned Parenthood has witnessed wide recent videos that really demonstrate the culture of death and abortion is their business and our business is to promote life,” says Freier.

“It comes down to hype and hyperbole that they’re trying to build a case on and they’re trying to get emotions fired against the organization rather than following the facts of what’s actually occurring,” says Rev. Wardzinski.

A recent government investigation into the videos revealed Planned Parenthood did nothing illegal. But that’s not stopping mother of eight, Jennifer St Claire, in standing up for what she believes in.

“I’m just a mom out here trying to support other moms in the community in choosing life,” says St Claire of Fargo.

And whether you choose pro–life or pro–choice, one thing is for sure.

It’s an issue that’s not going away anytime soon.

Another protest was also held today at the Planned Parenthood in Moorhead.
