Keeping North Dakota Secure

In a growing and changing state, more than 150 local leaders gather to discuss how to keep North Dakotans safe and secure in the future.

Senator Heidi Heitkamp hosted the forum.

Officials from various backgrounds, including law enforcement, education, and economic development, combined their expertise to tackle important issues, ranging from oil transportation safety, to human trafficking and drug usage.

They say collaboration is the key to improving safety and security for North Dakota.

“Through doing that we’ve been able to trade quite a bit of intelligence with the other law enforcement agencies, both North Dakota police departments and sheriff’s departments, and the North Dakota BCI,” says Fargo Police Chief Dave Todd.

The summit is part of Senator Heitkamp’s Strong and Safe Communities Initiative, which she launched last year.
