Forbes named Fargo the best small city for business and careers in 20-14.

That momentum is carrying on, with new businesses popping up regularly in the Metro.

The doors opened today at the Fargo Antiques and Repurposed Market.

Fargo’s newest business.

It’s been a good first day.

“We have been swamped. It’s been a wonderful, wonderful experience. Everyone’s really nice and very excited to check out the new mall,” says Kristi Bixby.

Across the river in Moorhead, two brothers just opened their passion project.

The Dragon’s Hoard is dedicated to tabletop gaming.

“Figured we might as well have fun doing what we love to do in our off time,” says owner Jordan Tepley.

The new businesses are part of a larger trend.

“There’s been tremendous growth all across our community,” says President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce Craig Whitney.

That growth creates opportunities for even more new entrepreneurs in the area.

New businesses are inspiring others to set up shop. At the brand new Fargo antique mall more than 40 different vendors are selling their wares.

“Very exciting. They did a real good job putting it together and I think it’s gonna be a real big success,” says vendor Don Schmidt.

The Chamber of Commerce says business growth is outpacing population growth.

Filling new jobs is proving difficult.

“It’s a nice challenge and a nice problem to have,” says Whitney.

New business owners say to ignore small problems like that, and follow your dreams.

“Just start something that you like to do. Whatever it is that you like to do, just go with that. Might as well have fun at work,” says Tepley.

Economic development leaders in Fargo-Moorhead are forming five different committees next week to figure out how to increase population growth to keep up with business growth in the region.
