United Way hosted its largest ever luncheon, all for women.

Nearly 800 women filled Fargo’s Ramada hotel.

The goal of this year’s event is to connect women and children, making sure every child is ready to learn.

The luncheon featured Kelly Corrigan as the keynote speaker.

Coorigan recently gave a Ted Talk in the Fargo area about her passion for children having books.

The campaign’s goal is to raise just under $6 million dollars.

“Being the outlet for women to get involved in their community and know that the hours they spend and the dollars they invest are going to help kids immediately and in the most strategic way possible. That’s what today is about,” says United Way Marketing Director Kristina Hein.

United Way of Cass County plans to invest locally in early childhood education.

Proceeds will go toward programs like school supply drive, and the backpack program.
