Bonanzaville Church Feeling at Home with New Steeple

Bonanzaville’s church is one step closer to welcoming in its next congregation.
For a new “old” church in town, it’s beginning to feel more and more like home.
The South Pleasant Church separated with its steeple back in July when it made its 30 mile move to Bonanzaville from Christine, replacing the old church on the grounds lost in a fire in 2014.
“When the church burned I was sad to see that happen. Now that we have a new church here, it breathes new life to that,” says Cass County Historical Society President, John Monilaws.
This church is settling in quickly, thanks to Gateway Building Systems who moved the steeple for free, and at the last minute.
“I contacted Jason over at gateway. He said how does Thursday sound? That would be great,” says Monilaws.
“We’re neighbors with Bonanzaville. Our shop is just right across the street so we take care of our neighbors,” says Safety Director of Gateway Building Systems, Jason Albertson.
“When moving this church everything stayed exactly in place. Even this hymnal went along for the ride. Almost like it’s ready for Sunday service.”
Pictures, books and collection plates saved from the fire will also fill the church.
“Kind of like another child for me getting this church here and it’s just nice, it adds to the landscape of Bonanzaville. When you come into town you’ll see the steeple and that’s a good feeling,” says Monilaws.
A feeling that the rest of the community shares as well, welcoming home an old church for a new generation.
The church still needs basement walls and new windows but Monilaws hopes the church will be ready by the “Christmas on the Prairie” event on December 5th.
