Two Arrested After Allegedly Using Homeless People To Cash Forged Checks

Two men are behind bars after being caught allegedly recruiting homeless people to cash forged checks.

Fargo Police say 34-year-old Antaneaio Scates of Indiana and 31-year-old Victor Kimble, residence unknown, would buy homeless men lunch, then take their ID’s so they could make fake checks with the information.

One homeless man walked into a business and told the cashier to call police because the check he had was fake.

Police then detained the two suspects, who were in a car in the business’ parking lot.

Police say this is a common tactic for check forgers.

Officers say they put out flier a homeless shelters and day labor sites warning about homeless check cashing scams.
